Helldivers 2 Tactics for Hellbombs, Powered by U4N
#1
In Helldivers 2 Super Credits can be part of the broader preparation for missions, but knowing how to use powerful battlefield tools is just as important. Among the most destructive options available to Helldivers is the Hellbomb, a tactical nuclear explosive designed to destroy major enemy structures, heavy units, and other important targets. The game features two distinct versions: the objective-specific NUX-223 Hellbomb and the backpack-mounted B-100 Portable Hellbomb. Although both create an enormous explosion, they work in very different ways.

Understanding the Two Hellbomb Variants
The NUX-223 is the standard Hellbomb that players encounter around specific mission objectives. It arrives through a Hellbomb drop pod and must be activated through its attached terminal. Because its availability is tied to mission objectives, players cannot simply call one down wherever they want.

The B-100 Portable Hellbomb takes a different approach. It is an equippable backpack stratagem that can be carried into missions and deployed in locations of the player's choosing. It is associated with the Servants of Freedom warbond and gives players considerably more flexibility when planning destructive attacks.

Both versions have the same basic destructive range. Their kill radius is 25 meters, while the shockwave reaches 45 meters. That makes positioning extremely important. A Helldiver who stays too close to the blast can easily become another casualty of the mission.

How the Standard Hellbomb Works
When the NUX-223 lands, players need to interact with its terminal and enter the activation sequence. The standard terminal code provided for the Hellbomb is ↓ ← → → ← ←. Once the correct sequence has been entered, the device is ready to detonate.

The important part is that the Hellbomb is vulnerable before it explodes. Enemy attacks can destroy the device before it completes its purpose. That means simply activating it and immediately walking away is not always enough. The squad needs to protect the Hellbomb while keeping enemies from reaching it.

This creates a simple but tense team situation. One player can work on the terminal while others clear enemies from the surrounding area. Once the device has been activated, the squad should focus on keeping the area under control rather than allowing enemies to overwhelm the objective.

Making the Portable Version Safer
The B-100 Portable Hellbomb is much more flexible, but its activation process requires awareness. After arming it, players should hold the drop key immediately so that the backpack is left on the ground. On PC, this involves X, while controller players can hold Down on the D-pad according to the provided guidance.

The goal is straightforward: arm the explosive, leave it behind, and sprint away. The B-100 has a 10-second countdown once activated, and that countdown cannot be canceled. Because the explosion is extremely large, there is little reason to remain beside it once the timer starts.

Communication Can Prevent Team Kills
The portable Hellbomb also introduces an unusual team interaction. A teammate can approach a player carrying the B-100 from behind and manually trigger the countdown on their back. This makes communication especially important.

A squad that understands who is carrying the Hellbomb can coordinate the timing and location of the explosion. A squad that does not communicate may accidentally activate it at the worst possible moment. Since the countdown cannot be canceled, an unexpected activation can quickly turn a successful attack into a team-killing disaster.

Why the B-100 Stands Out
Another useful feature of the B-100 is its interaction with Stratagem Jammers. Once deployed, the Portable Hellbomb is completely immune to Stratagem Jammers. This makes it particularly useful when dealing with bot bases where jammers can interfere with normal stratagem use.

Instead of relying entirely on conventional stratagem calls, a squad can bring the portable device directly into a dangerous area and use it to sabotage an important position. That flexibility is one of the biggest differences between the two Hellbomb variants.

Final Thoughts on Hellbomb Deployment
The Hellbomb is most effective when players treat it as a team objective rather than simply another explosive. The NUX-223 demands protection after activation, while the B-100 rewards careful positioning, quick movement, and communication. Players who understand the 25-meter kill radius and 45-meter shockwave can plan their escape much more effectively. For players looking to improve their overall mission preparation, cheap Helldivers 2 Super Credits can also be considered alongside learning the game's powerful tactical options.
